This exciting class is based on the most famous of all the 12 metres, Austalia II.
Designed by Ben Lexcen and carryring the sail numbers 12 KA-6, Australia II was the first foreign boat to win the America's Cup and pry the "Auld Mug" from American hands.
After 132 years the Cup was given a new lease of life when it headed Down Under for the 1987 Australian defence which bought together the biggest collection of twelve metre yachts ever seen.
These graceful boats were the weapons of choice for the combatants in the America’s Cup from 1958 until 1987 and still have a unique charm almost 20 years after the last Twelve was launched.
This class preserves a small part of this history and allows anyone to take the helm of an America's Cup winner.
Over time, with on-going research & support from readers & contributors, this site will develop to become the ultimate resource for you A2 class yacht.
So, even though we are just getting going, have a look around.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your stay.
